New Route 66 Signs Unveiled

New signs have been unveiled along historic Route 66 in Amarillo.

On Wednesday, officials gathered to unveil the brand new signs. The ceremony, which took place across the street from the OPJ antique store, featured Senator Kel Seliger, Representative Four Price and Dan Quandt, from the Amarillo Convention and Visitors Council.

During the ceremony, the brand new signs were shown. The new signs feature a mostly brown background, with the words "Historic Route" surrounding the Route 66 sign emblem.

The new signs come following the passage of House Bill 978, which designated Route 66 as an official historic corridor. Representative Price introduced the bill in the Texas House of Representatives, according to the Convention and Visitors Council.
