APD Seeks Suspects in Burglary

Amarillo Police are seeking suspects in an attempted burglary that took place on Wednesday.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched Wednesday morning to the 1900 block of North Manhattan on the report of shots fired. The victim, a 41 year old man, told officers that he had just been shot at. The victim said that he arrive at his house in the 2700 block of Northeast 20th Avenue and saw three males attempting to break into his back door. One suspect ran east one Northeast 20th Avenue and then south on Manhattan Street. The other suspects ran west on Northeast 20th Avenue.

The victim chased the single suspect, trying to apprehend him. The suspect fired a gun at least two times at the victim while running way. The victim was uninjured.

SWAT units and patrol officers were able to track two suspects to apartments in the 1400 block of North Jefferson. Hjarien Leraun Moore, 34, and Michael Denzel Barnes, 29, were detained. Detectives determined that Moore and Barnes were both connected to the attempted burglary. Both were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

Officers are still looking to identify two other suspects in the case. According to APD, both suspects are described as being black males wearing dark clothing. One is wearing a mask over his head and face and the other has a hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head in released photos.
