Man Arrested on Aggravated Robbery After Reportedly Dragging Victim with Car

A man is in custody after being charged with aggravated robbery.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, a man has been arrested after being charged in an aggravated robbery case from January. Officers say on January 4th, a victim went into a business in the 7900 block of Bell Street and left her purse, wallet and cell phone in the front seat of her locked vehicle. When she came back, she found a male suspect reaching into the front window of the vehicle. The suspect had broke the window of her car to gain access to her items.

The victim confronted the suspect and jumped into the driver's seat of a brown Chevrolet Suburban. The victim wedged herself in the door before the suspect could close it and the suspect backed out while dragging the victim.

After being dragged a short distance, the suspect returned most of the items and then fled the scene.

The victim was uninjured.

Andres Navarrete, 44, was named the suspect by APD's detectives and a warrant was issued for his arrest out of Randall County. On February 4th, Navarrete was located in the 1500 block of South Coulter and he was arrested. Navarrete was booked into the Randall County Jail on the charges of aggravated robbery and a municipal warrant for no seatbelt.
