Amarillo Fire Department Fights Intentionally-Set Alley Fires

Crews from the Amarillo Fire Department battled alley fires near Heather Street on Tuesday.

According to the Amarillo Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 2:45pm on Tuesday to the 1200 block of North Heather on reports of fires in an alley. Crews observed multiple columns of smoke while en-route to the scene and called for a second alarm.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found three separate fires in an alley between Heather and Iris Streets. Two dumpsters and a chair had been set on fire in the alley. The fires had also caught nearby wooden fences on fire. One fire had also damaged a home and another fire damaged a nearby garage.

All three fires were called under control 20 minutes after crews arrived on scene.

The Amarillo Fire Marshal's office has ruled all three fires intentional and the incidents are currently under investigation.
