Hamilton Takes Office: New Amarillo Municipal Court Judge Sworn-In

Amarillo's newest municipal court judge is officially in office, as Judge Laura Hamilton has taken the reins at the Amarillo Municipal Court.

Hamilton was sworn in on Monday morning as the new presiding judge of the Amarillo Municipal Court. An Amarillo attorney, Hamilton was chosen by the Amarillo City Council to take the job following the November resignation of the incumbent, Judge Sonya Letson.

Judge Hamilton has worked for the Potter County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Attorney General's Office. Hamilton has also held a private practice specializing in criminal and family law.

The Amarillo Municipal Court oversees all violations related to City of Amarillo statues including traffic citations and more. For more information, please visit http://amarillo.gov/departments/public-safety-and-organizational-services/municipal-court.
