It could be an early snow season if current forecasts hold true.
The Amarillo National Weather Service is reporting snow is in the forecast this weekend for the Texas Panhandle. Amarillo is in the area which could receive the snow, if the forecast holds. Early Sunday morning rains are expected to transition to snow around sunrise, in current forecasts.
If the forecast holds, this will be the earliest snow event in Amarillo since 2011. However, it would not break the record for the earliest one inch snow in Amarillo, as that was set on October 8, 1970.
