City of Amarillo Holding Public Meetings on New Trash Proposal

"The City of Amarillo’s Solid Waste department is hosting two meetings to gather the public’s input on implementing cart services to address homes that have unsafe alleyways and dumpsters in the front of homes. The community meetings will be held from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Jan. 4 – Downtown Amarillo Public Library, Room AB, 413 E. 4th Ave.

  • Monday, Jan. 8 – Southwest Amarillo Public Library, 6801 W. 45th Ave.

The benefits of cart-based trash collections include cleaner and safer alleys and neighborhoods, improved collection efficiency, cost savings, and equal services City-wide. Approximately 16,500 customers would be impacted by the proposed changes, including those who have their dumpsters placed in streets or in front of their homes or those who have dead-end alleys.

For more information or questions regarding the proposed solid waste cart services, please call the Solid Waste department at (806) 378-6813."
