While several Sam's Club locations nationwide are being shuttered, both locations in Amarillo are currently remaining open.
This morning, Walmart, the business parent of Sam's Club, announced that it would be closing 63 stores nationwide. According to KTVA, employees of Sam's Club locations received letters this week informing them of their termination as the company begins set to liquidate some of its locations.
As the closings are beginning for the chain, both locations in Amarillo appear to be remaining open, as of Thursday afternoon. According to Sam's Club's official website, both locations in Amarillo are still listed as open.
A representative for the Amarillo Sam's Club location at 8952 Westgate Parkway told the Amarillo Pioneer today that both locations are remaining open.
"Yep, we are both still here," the spokesperson told the Amarillo Pioneer.
Several of the locations that have been closed are already gone from the Sam's Club website. USA Today reported on Thursday that approximately 2,018 employees of the Walmart corporation will be affected by the closings as 50 locations have already been closed and dozens more are expected to be shut over the coming weeks.
