Abbott Names New Chair of Texas Public Utility Commission

Governor Greg Abbott has named DeAnn Walker as the new chair of the Texas Public Utility Commission.

Abbott announced today that he appointed Walker to the commission and named her the chair of the board, with a term set to expire in September of 2021. Walker, of Austin, currently serves as the senior policy advisor to Governor Abbott on issues dealing with regulated industries.

In her capacity, Walker will oversee the board that is responsible electric, telecommunication and sewer utilities.

Walker previously served as director of Regulatory Affairs and as an associate general counsel for CenterPoint Energy.

Walker is a member of the State Bar of Texas, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution Mary Isham Keith Chapter, and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem Southwestern Lieutenancy. Walker is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and the South Texas College of Law.
