Solar Eclipse Hits Amarillo

Residents of Amarillo joined together as people from across the nation watched the 2017 solar eclipse.

People in all neighborhoods stood outside with solar eclipse glasses as the clouds cleared to expose the sun in the eclipse. Patrons of Youngblood's Cafe in Amarillo stood outside watching the eclipse and discussed the significance of seeing the event.

Those who were unable to obtain eclipse glasses instead used welding shields and selfie cameras, among other things, to document the historic event.

Those who watched the eclipse were amazed at the impact of the event on the atmosphere in Amarillo.

"Here in Texas we were in the privilege of seeing the eclipse," one observer commented, "It's a once in a lifetime deal."

The next total solar eclipse will occur on April 8, 2024, according to CNN.
