AISD Board to Consider Calling Bond Election During Monday Meeting

The Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees will consider calling a bond election during Monday night's school board meeting.

According to an agenda posted by the school district, the board is considering calling a bond election for the November uniform election. The discussion over a possible bond election has been taking place for months and the board recently formed a citizen advisory committee to come up with proposals for the bond election. The exact scope of the bond election is expected to be somewhere around $100 million.

Also during the meeting, the board will adopt an order for the 2017 AISD tax rate and will discuss cost estimates for a Caprock High School sports complex, to include a tennis center and soccer field.

The board will also take care of some basic items ahead of the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.

The meeting will take place on Monday, August 14th at the AISD Education Support Center (7200 Interstate 40 West). The meeting will begin at 6pm.
