The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a fire last night which is believed to have caused a death.
AFD reports that firefighters responded to a fire at 2109-B S. Arthur on the call of a structure fire. Firefighters arrived on scene at 11:47pm.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they immediately located a deceased fire victim in the kitchen area of the structure. The victim appeared to be an elderly man who had signs of death due to the fire. He was believed to be the only occupant in the residence.
The victim was later identified as 68-year-old Librado Juarez.
The fire was called under control at 11:58pm.
The Amarillo Fire Marshall has determined that the origin of the fire was in the bedroom area of the structure.
The incident is still under investigation. An autopsy has been ordered for the deceased.
