Cowell Out of Race for San Marcos City Manager Job

Bob Cowell is no longer being considered for the role of city manager for the City of San Marcos.

Cowell, Amarillo's deputy city manager, has withdrawn from the race for city manager after Austin's assistant city manager, Bert Lumbreras, was named the sole finalists for the role that was once held by Amarillo's city manager Jared Miller. Lumbreras will be succeeding Charles Daniels, who is currently serving as San Marcos' interim city manager.

This is the third time that Cowell has been considered for the role of city manager in 2017. Cowell was previously under consideration for the job of city manager in Amarillo and in Tacoma, Washington.

Cowell has served in Amarillo since 2013.
