Chief Ed Drain Weighs in On Reader's Question

Amarillo Police Chief Ed Drain has responded to a question by a reader of the Amarillo Pioneer regarding Senate Bill 4.

The reader of the Amarillo Pioneer wanted to know if APD Police Chief Ed Drain would direct his officers to charge those in the country illegally where transgressions are minor with lesser crimes so that it would not jeopardize their status with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"I intend for the Amarillo Police Department to comply with Senate Bill 4," Chief Drain said, "I have no plans to direct our officers to charge those who are in this country illegally with a lesser offense so they would not be deported."
