APD Investigating Shooting at Motel

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a shooting at a motel.

According to APD, officers were called to the America's Best Value Inn at 3930 East Interstate 40 last night. Officers found blood on the sidewalk and inside of a first-floor room on the south side of the building. Officers found a handgun and a small bag of marijuana in a parking lot across from the room.

No one who had been involved in the shooting was present. Officers later discovered that one person had been driven to a local hospital. He was suffering from what officers believe was a grazing-type gunshot wound to the head. The injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Officers developed the information that a white car was one of two vehicles that left the scene following the shooting. Officers located the white car in a parking lot north of the hospital and were attempting to find out if it was used to drive the injured man to the hospital.

The identity of the injured man has not yet been released as his role in the incident is still under investigation. APD Robbery Squad detectives are currently investigating.

No arrests have been made in the case.
