Service Animal Bill Heads for Public Hearing in House

HB 2992 is headed for a hearing.

HB 2992 is a bill that would relate to the "prosecution of the offense of misrepresenting an animal as an assistance animal." The bill is authored by Victoria Neave (D-Dallas).

If passed, the bill would create a penalty of up to a $300 fine and 30 hours of community service for those who misrepresent an animal to be a service animal.

The bill is currently pending a hearing in the Human Services committee of the Texas House of Representatives.
