Phone Scam Hits Amarillo

"With the ongoing awareness of the Compliance Campaign conducted by Municipal Court, the APD would like to remind everyone of the following: Like the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, neither the Municipal Court nor the Amarillo Police Department will ever ask you for any financial information over the phone. They will never allow you to make arrangement to pay any ticket or warrant charges over the phone.

If you are contacted by anyone that tells you that you have an outstanding warrant or fees…AND asks to arrange payment over the telephone, it is an attempt to steal from you. Hang up immediately!

Please share this important crime prevention information with friends and relatives.

If you have questions about resolving warrants or citations, call the Municipal Court at 378-9342."
