City Council to Hear Appeal from West Texas Rx Owner

The Amarillo City Council will hear the appeal of a local restaurant owner, during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.

According to the agenda, an appeal will be heard by the City Council regarding the non-renewal of a food establishment permit to West Texas Rx. In a letter attached to the City Council agenda, Sara Black, of West Texas Rx, wrote that the establishment has been in business in Amarillo, since 1997. According to documents attached to the agenda, the permit was not renewed, due to the establishment not complying with the "Two Compartment Sink" rule. The hearing will be held tomorrow, with the Bi-City-County Health District intending to issue a notice of closure for February 22nd.

Also during the City Council meeting, Council members will hear a presentation for the annual comprehensive financial report. The City Council will also consider applying for two homeland security grants.

Council members will also consider making appointments to the Amarillo Potter Events Venue District Board, the Bi-City-County Health District Board, the Community Development Advisory Committee, and the Traffic Advisory Board.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5pm, tomorrow. The meeting will be held in City Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 SE 7th Avenue).
