One Dead Following Collision on Hillside

One person has died following an auto collision that took place on Hillside.

According to information from the Amarillo Police Department, on Friday, officers were dispatched on the report of a three car motor vehicle crash in the 4800 block of Hillside Road. A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by Calvert Rex Reed, 63, was eastbound on Hillside. The pickup crossed into a westbound lane of traffic, striking a concrete barrier.

A 2005 Hyundai Elantra and 2005 Chrysler 300 were also struck in the collision.

Reed was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Judge Thomas Jones has ordered an autopsy.

There were no other injuries in the crash.

This incident is still under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.
