Former Amarillo mayor Paul Harpole spoke to a group of elementary school students in Amarillo today.
On Friday, Harpole spoke to students gathered at Gene Howe Elementary. Harpole spoke to the crowd of students as part of the school's Veterans' Day celebration.
Harpole is a veteran of the United States Army, serving two tours during the Vietnam War. During this time, Harpole served as a crew chief on a medical helicopter.
During his tenure as mayor, Harpole often spoke at events on Veterans' Day.
Harpole served as mayor of Amarillo from May of 2011 until May of 2017.
