The Amarillo Fire Department has promoted several firefighters during the month of October.
AFD announced this week the promotion of Chris Westbrook and Brenton Goerend. Westbrook and Goerend have both been promoted to the rank of driver. Westbrook serves in the firefighter personal safety equipment program and previously served in the communications program.
Goerend was promoted to the rank of driver will remain in the Technical Rescue program.
Two firefighters also retired this month. Drivers Clay Gibson and Les Albright retired from the Amarillo Fire Department. Gibson served in the personal safety equipment program, after serving for 29 years. Albright served in the Aircraft Rescue Firefighting program, while serving in the Amarillo Fire Department for 28 years.
