San Jacinto Inks Lease With Potter County

San Jacinto Christian Academy has inked a deal with Potter County to lease Potter County Memorial Stadium for five years.

During Monday's meeting of the Potter County Commissioners' Court, commissioners voted to approve a lease with San Jacinto Christian Academy for five years. San Jacinto had previously been sub-leasing the stadium from Gary Elliston, the owner of an independent league baseball team.

Under the new lease, San Jacinto will be responsible for completing improvements to the stadium.

In spring of 2017, San Jacinto played its first season at the stadium, after struggling to find a baseball home. After setting up shop in the stadium, San Jacinto students cleaned trash from the field and mowed the grass surrounding the stadium. In addition, all banners and signage representing tobacco or alcohol were removed from the arena.

It is unclear whether San Jacinto plans to move any of its other sports to the stadium during the duration of the lease.
