Why did you decide to run for this office in 2026?

Judge James Anderson is retiring. I have the well-rounded background and many years of experience that qualify me for the position. This court hears many family law (divorce, separation, custody) cases. Having personally experienced divorce and shared custody, and having handled many of these types of cases over the years, affords me special insight to the types of matters that should be considered for the best interest of the children involved, if any, as well as the ability to be fair to all parties. Also, as a former Police Officer, prosecutor, and defense attorney, I am equipped with the knowledge to understand the public safety issues, Police investigations, evidence, and the law, to handle the criminal case load in a manner that will help make Randall County a safer community with an efficient court, to keep our home, Randall County, a safe place to raise a family and conduct business. We are growing and this is my home. I have four children in Randall schools now.

If elected, what will be your top priority?

Protecting our community through the swift administration of justice by a neutral magistrate.

Please describe your legal career experience and discuss any career highlights you would like to share.

I have been a practicing lawyer for 18 years. I was a Texas Police Officer for more than 6 years. I have been a prosecutor, special prosecutor, and defense attorney. I have experience in criminal law, civil law, family law, juvenile law, and working CPS cases. I was the trial and appellate attorney who affected Texas Law as relates to driving on or near the fog line and use of the improved shoulder (see State v. Cortez, 543 S.W.3d 198 (Tex. Crim. App. 2018).

During your time in law school, what was the most profound lesson you learned that continues to play a role in your career and/or your life?

You cannot expect a judge to rule in your favor, you can only expect him/her to rule.

What fictional lawyer do you most identify with? Please explain.

Perry Mason. I not only try to save my client in the courtroom, holding true to my oath, but I also investigate the matter when dealing with criminal law, to try to help law enforcement get the right guy/gal, in the cases where applicable.

Do you have any notable endorsements you would like to highlight for voters? If this question is not applicable, please write N/A.

N/A.

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

With my law enforcement background, coupled with my attorney experience, and being a father of four school age children currently in Randall schools, I have the ability and desire to efficiently administer justice to improve the safety of our community. I am not politically connected and will be fair to all (equal justice under the law).
