Why did you decide to run for this office in 2026?

For 21 years, I have dedicated my career to the practice of law—working tirelessly in family law, civil litigation, prosecution, and criminal defense. Through these experiences, I’ve seen firsthand how the decisions made in our courts impact lives, families, and futures. That’s why I’m running for Randall County Court at Law #1, because experience matters and I have the background and skillset to ensure justice and fairness are upheld. I believe in justice with integrity and service with heart.

If elected, what will be your top priority?

My main commitment is to ensure that all litigants have the opportunity to have their case heard with discernment and the law is applied fairly and consistently. My goals are to follow the laws of the Great State of Texas and hold true to conservative values and ensure the safety of children in Randall County who have been abused and neglected.

Please describe your legal career experience and discuss any career highlights you would like to share.

For more than two decades, I have built a successful legal career rooted in integrity, hard work, and a deep passion for justice. Through my extensive work in family law, civil litigation, prosecution, and criminal defense, I have seen firsthand how the decisions made in our courts truly impact lives, families, and futures. Overall, helping families in many ways has been the highlight of my years of legal practice, in both the public and private sector. By working as a Randall County and Potter County prosecutor, I have been involved in many cases that I'm proud to say that I made a positive impact in the lives of children and people who were hurt by acts of violence. There are hundreds of times I can say I worked files, tried cases, and advocated for voiceless victims. Being able to bring light to those who had seen so much darkness and give resolution to trauma was a priceless experience for me as a public servant. In private practice, I have loved helping people transition into new chapters of their lives after legal issues have created chaos for families. Helping clients navigate through divorce, custody, and other co-parenting issues is never easy, but again the ability to see people through the hard times to calmer waters has been such a blessing.

During your time in law school, what was the most profound lesson you learned that continues to play a role in your career and/or your life?

Life is about progress and not perfection. Law school was a very different experience from anything life prepares you for in reality. It is more than long hours, studying, taking tests, and passing the Oklahoma and Texas bar exams to become licensed! Every day in law school was a lesson in humility, courage, perseverance, and helped create the grit that keeps me passionate about the practice of law to this day. I learned that I don't know everything, nor will I ever, but I learned that with God's Grace and effort, I can accomplish and do anything that comes my way. Just keep looking for ways to make JUSTICE matter and never lose heart!

What fictional lawyer do you most identify with? Please explain.

I don't really have an identity in any fictional attorney. I love reading anything about the Constitution and our Founding Fathers. I like to learn about the history of the Supreme Court and all the Justices who have served our country. I got to meet Sandra Day O'Conner when I was in law school and her story is so remarkable for a female attorney, so if I could identify with anyone it would definitely be her! She was an inspiration to the practice of law.

Former Randall County Sheriff Joel Richardson

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

With 21 years of extensive experience in criminal prosecution, criminal defense, civil litigation, family law, protective orders, and cases involving Child Protective Services, I have the background and skillset to ensure that justice and fairness are upheld. My vision is simple: a court that serves with fairness, transparency, and compassion. As a lifelong Randall County resident and conservative Republican, I believe in justice that is impartial, accessible, and efficient for everyone in Randall County.
