Question: What is your educational background?

Answer: I obtained my juris doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Biology from LSU-S.

Q: What is your occupation?

A: I am an attorney in private practice. I am also a mediator and arbitrator.

Q: What is your age:

A: I am 47.

Q: If your campaign has any online campaign resources where voters can learn more about you, such as social media accounts or a website, please list them below.

A: www.chengforjustice.com; fb.com/chengforjustice; twitter.com/chengforjustice; instagram.com/chengforjustice

Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2020?

A: The lack of diversity for almost a quarter of a century on the Texas Supreme Court is a major factor of why I am running to seek the position as Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Place 6. This is Texas' highest civil court that interprets the laws of this State for all Texans. The current panel of nine justices does not reflect the diverse demographics and mindset of the Texans whom they serve. I am fortunate to have the success that I have today, but for a forward-thinker like me, I believe justice for all shall be a reality so I want to restore fairness, integrity, and balance back to the Texas Supreme Court. Hence, I chose to bring my set of diverse lenses to the Texas Supreme Court since the law is not always black or white, but there are gray areas. With diverse lenses, there will be more meaningful discussions of the various perspectives of the gray areas, deeper analysis, complex questions or process before the final decision. When the law is interpreted through the diverse lenses reflecting the population of this state, it creates trust with respect to the judicial branch and at the same time, restoring fairness, balance and integrity to the branch.

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

A: Respecting and protecting United States and Texas Constitutions and interpreting the laws of State with my diverse perspectives on the law. Eliminate party politics and/or big donor impact in the outcome of the court's decision. Conduct civic engagement to educate constituents on the importance of the judiciary and how the highest civil court of Texas impacts them.

Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position in 2020?

A: The law is not always black or white, and there are gray areas. Citizens of different background, cognitive and cultural wise, lead to better questions raised, in-depth analyses, solutions, and processes. With my diverse lenses that I gained from diverse legal and life experience as a woman of color, I am the better candidate to interpret the laws of the State of Texas for all citizens, thus, leading to fair outcomes, thus restoring integrity back to the judiciary that is currently lacking on the Texas Supreme Court.
