I have served as a state judge for more than 22 years in both the trial and appellate courts. I am a member of the American Law Institute, the Court’s liaison to the Judicial Commission on Mental Health and to the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. I have served as a leader in many legal and charitable organizations.

Q: What is your occupation?

A: Justice, Texas Supreme Court, Place 6

Q: What is your age:

A: 55

Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2020?

A: I work hard every day to defend the rule of law, to improve the fairness and efficiency of the justice system for all Texans, and to act with honesty, integrity, and respect toward all who come before our Court. I am running to continue that work, and I humbly ask for your vote.

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

A: 1. To fairly and equally apply the United States and Texas Constitutions and Texas laws as written without a personal or political agenda. 2. To improve our state’s judicial system through insuring access to our courts for all Texans, harnessing technology to lower costs and reduce the time it takes to resolve disputes, and educating the public about the role of the courts in government and society. 3. To work to keep justice moving and our courthouses safely open as we adapt to challenges created by the pandemic.

Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position in 2020?

A: My 22 years of judicial experience equip me for the hard work and thoughtfulness needed to resolve the challenging cases that come before our state’s highest court. I am a board-certified lawyer and long-serving judge who knows the importance of every case to the parties involved. My experience is reflected in over 1,000 signed opinions and thousands more cases resolved.
