Former President Donald Trump issued endorsements on Monday night for two candidates running for Texas House seats in Amarillo.

For District 86, which includes Randall County, Trump endorsed incumbent State Rep. John Smithee for re-election. Trump picked Smithee over his challenger, Canyon resident Jamie Haynes.

In District 87, meanwhile, Trump endorsed Caroline Fairly for Texas House. Fairly was chosen by the former president over her three opponents — Jesse Quackenbush, Cindi Bulla, and Richard Beyea. The post by Trump to Truth Social, which announced the endorsement of Fairly, was shared by U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson with a note thanking him for backing Fairly.

Aside from these races, Trump also endorsed David J. Schenck, Gina Parker, and Lee Finley for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and Stormy Bradley and Wes Virdell for two other West Texas area House seats.

Voters will decide these Texas House races on Tuesday, March 5.
