Realtor Cindi Bulla is the first to file for the ballot in the open House District 87 race to replace outgoing State Rep. Four Price (R-Amarillo).

Bulla, who had previously donated to Price’s campaign, is positioning herself as the heir to Price’s political brand. In an interview with Channel 7, Bulla said her “style” will “be like his was.” While Price has not officially made an endorsement in the race, Bulla has already earned the endorsement of TREPAC, the political arm of the Texas Realtors Association, which previously supported Price. Bulla previously served as Chair of the Texas Association of Realtors and currently serves on the Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission.

Bulla is facing tough competition in the primary. Medical negotiator Caroline Fairly, who has also announced her candidacy, raised over $250,000 in the first few weeks of her campaign. Fairly has also already secured endorsements from Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Ronny Jackson, Attorney General Ken Paxton, State Senator Kevin Sparks, and Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley. At the time of writing, Fairly has not yet filed for the ballot.

Attorney Jesse Quackenbush filed a treasurer appointment but has not yet announced his campaign or filed for the ballot. Potter County Republican Party Chairman Dan Rogers had previously announced his candidacy but has since dropped out.

The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is Monday, December 11th. The primary is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th.
