Another candidate has entered the race for Texas governor, just months before Texans cast their ballots in the state’s high-profile gubernatorial election.

Mark V. Goloby filed as a write-in candidate for governor last week, with the Texas Secretary of State certifying him as an official write-in candidate for the November election. Goloby’s name is likely familiar to most Texas Republicans, as he challenged incumbent Comptroller of Public Accounts Glenn Hegar in this year’s primary election, garnering 16 percent of the vote.

According to his website, Goloby is the founder of TC Technologies and has worked in wireless remote monitoring and data applications for over 25 years.

Goloby will be one of only two candidates eligible to receive write-in votes during the November gubernatorial election, alongside Jacqueline Abernathy. Goloby’s name will not appear printed on the ballot, but will be included in a certified list of write-in candidates provided at each polling location.

Along with Goloby and Abernathy, Republican Greg Abbott, Democrat Beto O’Rourke, Libertarian Mark J. Tippetts, and Green Delilah Barrios are also running in the November election.
