Authorities have made an arrest as part of an investigation into a homicide on Athens Street on Thursday.

According to Amarillo Police, officers were sent to the 7200 block of Athens at 5:11pm on Thursday on the report of a female with apparent gunshot wounds. When officers arrived, they found the woman, identified as Shereena Webster, was deceased.

Homicide investigators and CSI were called to the scene. During their investigation, officers developed Webster’s ex-boyfriend as a suspect in the case. Officers obtained a murder warrant against Erik Rivas and later discovered that Rivas had left town.

After APD notified other law enforcement entities, officers located Rivas in the Dallas area, where he was arrested.

This case remains under investigation by the APD Homicide Unit.
