State Rep. Ken King (R-Canadian) is supporting former lobbyist Josh Winegarner in the July 14 Republican runoff for U.S. House District 13.

King’s support for Winegarner was made official in a statement on Wednesday, with the lawmaker saying Winegarner will have already served the Texas Panhandle before being elected, if elected in the primary runoff.

“Josh Winegarner grew up in the Panhandle, and learned the value of hard work here in our community. And he has served us,” King said.

King is the latest establishment lawmaker to announce their support for Winegarner, joining State Sen. Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo), who endorsed Winegarner on Monday. The other two lawmakers who represent part of the Amarillo metro area, State Reps. Four Price (R-Amarillo) and John Smithee (R-Amarillo) have so far remained silent regarding who they will support in the runoff between Winegarner and former White House Physician Dr. Ronny Jackson.

Early voting in this primary runoff runs until July 10. Election Day is July 14.
