Restaurant Capacity Going Up, Bars to Reopen in Amarillo

Gov. Greg Abbott’s new order is allowing establishments in Amarillo to following along with other reopenings across the state.

Beginning Friday, May 29, restaurants in Amarillo will be allowed to serve patrons at 50 percent of their normal capacity, up from the 25 percent previously mandates. Bars and bowling alleys will also be allowed to operate at 25 capacity.

In addition, massage establishments, licensed massage therapists and tattoo studios will be allowed to reopen with proper social distancing and the Amarillo Zoo will reopen outdoor spaces at 25 capacity. Youth and recreational sports programs may also begin practices on Sunday, but may not begin games and competitions until June 15.
