Sod Poodles Thump Naturals in Away Game

The Amarillo Sod Poodles scored in all but one inning in a 12-2 thumping of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Monday night at Arrest Ballpark.

The Sod Poodles collected 13 hits in the ballgame, including three homers. Peter Van Gansen belted solo blasts in the second and ninth innings, while Kyle Overstreet hit a solo home run in the sixth.

It was the first ever multi-homer game of Van Gansen's career. 

Left-hander Nick Margevicius was solid on the mound, tossing six innings of two-run ball. Margevicius struck out a season-high eight hitters en route to his third Texas League win of the season. 

Ivan Castillo collected three hits and an RBI, while Luis Torrens secured two hits and a game-high four RBIs. Edward Olivares and Owen Miller also had two-hit games. 

The Sod Poodles scored a run in each of the game's first three innings. After being held scoreless in the fourth, the Sod Poodles scored nine runs from through the fifth through ninth innings. 

Carlos Belen, Travis Radke, and David Bednar combined to toss three scoreless innings out of Amarillo's bullpen.

The Sod Poodles finish their seven-game road trip on Tuesday and go for a series win of their four-game set at Northwest Arkansas. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Amarillo sends righty Ronald Bolaños to the hill while Northwest Arkansas counters with lefty J.C. Cloney.
