WTAMU Dance Program to Present 'Portraits of Dance'

The dance program at West Texas A&M University will host the annual spring dance concert “Portraits of Dance” with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 as well as at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 in the Branding Iron Theatre.

The concert includes the work of two internationally recognized dancers: Bob Boross, who created the exciting concert jazz work Mercy Street to the music of Herbie Hancock, and Arkaday Orohovsky, who set a suite of stirring Russian folk dances to traditional Russian music utilizing almost all the dance majors in the program.

The spring dance concert offers a variety of dance styles including multimedia, modern, ballet, jazz and contemporary as well as works by the program’s new adjunct instructors Staci Hall of Edge Dance Studio and Mark and Stephanie Lanham of LanDance Conservatory. Additionally, WT dance faculty members Leslie Williams, Crystal Bertrand and Edward R. Truitt will present four added works to complete the concert.
