Amarillo EDC Taps Carter for Top Job

The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation has selected its new president and chief executive officer.

On Monday, the AEDC Board of Directors voted to appoint Kevin Carter as the new head of the organization, effective April 1st. Carter has previously served as Executive Director of The High Ground of Texas and as Executive Director for the Plainview/Hale County Economic Development Corporation. Carter is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University.

In a statement, board chairman Laura Street said she is excited about the selection of Carter as the newest top executive for the organization.

“Kevin is an experienced economic development professional who has continually demonstrated his commitment to advancing Texas businesses,” Street said. “We have no doubt he will bring this same passion, along with a wealth of innovative ideas, to Amarillo.”

Carter will be the first head of the organization since the departure of organization president Barry Albrecht last year.
