Amarillo Police Investigating Fatal Accident

Authorities are currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred Tuesday morning in Amarillo.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched Tuesday morning to a wreck at Willow Creek Avenue and North Dumas Highway. A 1993 Jeep Wrangler driven by Kenneth Evenson, 67, had been westbound on Willow Creek. A 2007 International Tractor pulling a box trailer, driven by a man from Dallas, 45, was southbound on the Dumas Highway service road. Authorities say the driver of the International ran the stop sign for the southbound traffic and struck the jeep. Evenson died on scene as a result of injuries received in the collision.

Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn has ordered an autopsy. This incident remains under investigation.
