Midland City Councilman John B. Love, III is no longer running against U.S. Sen. John Cornyn.

Last week, Love announced that he would be ending his long-shot bid for the Democratic Party’s nomination to challenge the Republican incumbent Cornyn in 2020. Love said while he is departing the race, he still plans to campaign for the Democratic Party’s Senate nominee next year.

Love’s departure from the race still leaves a large field vying for the party’s 2020 Senate nomination.

Primary election day is on March 3, 2020.
