Moore Files to Run for Potter County Commissioner

Insurance broker Brian Moore is the latest candidate to join the race to replace outgoing Precinct 3 Potter County Commissioner Leon Church.

According to the Texas Secretary of State’s website, Moore has filed to run in the Republican primary for the seat, bringing the field of hopefuls to three candidates. Moore’s filing lists his occupation as being in insurance. His filing was effective as of Tuesday, according to the website.

Moore joins George Buchenau, Jr. and John Coffee in seeking the seat in the Republican primary. No Democrats or third-party candidates are running, as of this reporting.

The seat has been solidly Republican-held in the previous few election cycles. Church won the seat originally in 2012, ousting incumbent Commissioner Joe Kirkwood in the Republican primary. He went on to win re-election in 2016, winning his Republican primary handily and going unopposed in his general election.

Candidates can file for spots on the ballot through December 9. Primary election day is March 3, 2020.
