State Rep. John Smithee (R-Amarillo) has filed to run for re-election to the Texas House in 2020.
According to the Texas Republican Party, Smithee has filed his paperwork to seek another term in office next year. The Amarillo Republican is currently the most senior Republican serving in the Texas House.
Smithee was most recently re-elected in 2018, beating Democrat Mike Purcell. No candidates have announced bids to challenge Smithee in 2020.
Candidates can file for spots on the ballot through December 9.
