Snider Enters Race for Open 13th Congressional District Seat

Another candidate has officially entered the race for U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry’s seat.

Vance Snider II announced his candidacy via a press release on Thursday. Snider is seeking the Republican nomination for the open 13th District seat. According to his press release, Snider is a United States Army veteran and native of Dumas. He decided to join the race for the Republican nomination to represent veterans in the district.

Snider is the first candidate in the Republican primary, as Cooke County Judge Jason Brinkley, Amarillo City Councilwoman Elaine Hays, and Texas Cattle Feeders Association governmental relations director Josh Winegarner are mulling bids, according to reports. Greg Sagan, a Navy veteran seeking the Democratic nomination, is the only other announced candidate for the seat.

Candidates can begin filing in November for a place on the ballot.
