Wichita Falls resident Monique Worthy is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, determined to make the Texas 13th Congressional District race - and Washington - more conservative.

Worthy, a well-known conservative activist on social media, launched her bid to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) last week. The political newcomer, who cites Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher as her influences, is running because she believes she can bring much needed conservatism to the contest.

“When there’s an election and there’s a Republican on the ballot, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be a conservative,” Worthy said.

A supporter of President Donald Trump, Worthy says she appreciates the President because of his “brashness” and believes that she can work the White House to get big things done if she is elected to represent Texas’ 13th District.

“He speaks his mind and he’s a fighter,” Worthy said. “…I don’t want my politicians to be weak. I’m also going to get in there and change things.”

Worthy is currently collecting petition signatures to secure her spot on the ballot. If you would like to support Worthy or find out more about her campaign, you can go to http://www.moniqueworthy.com.
