Which Offices Are Up for Grabs in 2019?

If you have ever wanted to run for public office, now is your chance.

On January 16th, applicants will begin being accepted by various local bodies for the May 4, 2019 elections. The filings will run through February 15, 2019. Candidates for several local offices will file during this time, but which offices are actually up for grabs? Here’s a list below:

Mayor of Amarillo

2019 Candidates: Ginger Nelson*, Claudette Smith, Richard Herman

Salary: $10 per week

Duties: Votes on City of Amarillo policy and spending, plus ceremonial duties; decides employment of city manager

City Council, Place 1

2019 Candidates: Hayden Pedigo

Salary: $10 per week

Duties: Votes on City of Amarillo policy and spending, plus ceremonial duties; decides employment of city manager
