A majority of members on the Canyon City Commission will be running for re-election this year.
According to filings with the Canyon city secretary, Mayor Gary Hinders and Commissioners Cody Jones, Paul R. Lyons, and Roger Remlinger have filed to run for re-election in the May 2019 election. Meanwhile, no filing has been made by Canyon’s Place 5 commissioner, Justin Richardson, as of Thursday morning.
The only challenger who openly announced a bid - Place 2 candidate Justin Miller - was disqualified from the ballot. No other challengers have filed to run.
Candidate filings end on February 15th. Election day is May 4th.
