WTAMU Economics Program Earns Online Honors

"West Texas A&M University has been ranked at No. 19 for Best Master’s in Economics in the country by College Choice, a leading authority in college and university rankings and resources. The ranking is based on institutional reputation, graduation rates, selectivity and faculty resources.

The data for the rankings comes from the National Center for Education Statistics’ IPEDS database, U.S. News & World Report, PayScale and individual college websites. WTAMU’s Master of Science in Finance and Economics (MSFE) is a 36-hour program that can be completed on campus, online or a combination of the two.

“I can’t express how proud I am for our MSFE program being ranked No. 19 by College Choice,” Taylor Walden, WTAMU alumna and mortgage loan originator of CNN Mortgage in Fort Worth, said. “This program was not easy but the results speak for themselves. As a graduate, I can attest that the amount of ambition and drive in my career stems from my time in the MSFE program at West Texas A&M. The faculty push for excellence and complete understanding, taking time with each of their students to be sure we succeed in the program. Having my MSFE was the first attribute my current employer noticed on my résumé. It led them to set high expectations out of my performance and for that, I couldn’t be happier. I always tell people, if they raise the bar on you, you must be doing something right. I have WTAMU to thank for this.”

Another former MSFE student, Tyler Young, a financial planner at RGT Wealth Advisors in Dallas, said, “The MSFE program at the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business is an outstanding program, and the faculty are the most helpful you will find. It’s perfect for students who are looking for a high quality, affordable and flexible degree. I was able to work full time while pursuing my degree, and it prepared me well for my goals of taking and passing the Chartered Financial Analyst exams and pursuing a career in wealth management. The MSFE program’s recognition by College Choice is well deserved.”

Anne Macy, Edwards Professor of Finance and coordinator of the University's MSFE program said, “I am proud that our program enables our graduates to achieve their career advancement goals and can look back fondly at the achievements of the program even after their departure. Through our student’s efforts, institutions like College Choice can see just how great our students really are and allow for strong national rankings based on their successes.”
