Spearman Issues Water Boil Notice

A water boil notice has been issues in Spearman.

According to the City of Spearman, due to reduced distribution system pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is requiring the Spearman Municipal Water System to notify customers of a need to boil water prior to consumption. Children, seniors and those with a weakened immune system are all especially vulnerable to possible bacteria in water.

All water that will be used for drinking, cooking, making ice or human interaction should be boiled and cooled prior to use. Officials say consumers should look for a "vigorous, rolling boil," before boiling the water for two minutes.

Officials say customers in the area will be notified once water is deemed safe for consumption.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Spearman Public Works director Chris Douglas at (903) 267 -7620 or (806) 270-0210.
