North Amarillo Fire Causes Total Home Loss

A fire in Northwest Amarillo caused a home to be declared a total loss on Friday.

According to the Amarillo Fire Department, crews responded to a structure fire at 1423 Northwest 12th Avenue at 12:44pm. Crews responded and found the single story residence fully involved with heavy fire. A second alarm was also sent because of the large amount of fire and wind at the scene.

The fire was brought under control by 1:13pm, but crews remained on scene to put out hot spots. The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office responded and ruled the fire's cause as undetermined. The structure has been declared a total loss, due to collapsing of part of the home. Neighbors indicated that the house had been abandoned.
