APD Seeks to Identify Suspect in Friday Shooting

The Amarillo Police Department is currently working to identify a suspect in a Friday night shooting.

Officers were dispatched Friday night, around 11pm, to the area of Interstate 40 and Bell on the report of shots being fired from a vehicle. Officers learned that two potential gunshot victims were at an area hospital. It was also confirmed that a suspect in a red, 4-door, Dodge Charger had pulled in front of the victim's vehicle and opened fire.

The driver, a 21-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries. The victim's passenger, an 11-year-old boy, received an injury to the upper body. Neither of the victims are believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries. Both victims are in stable condition.

APD reports that the suspect in the shooting may possibly be a Hispanic male with dark, curly hair. The vehicle was described as possibly being candy apple red and may have an after-market rear spoiler.
