City Council to Conduct Performance Evaluation for City Manager

The Amarillo City Council will conduct a performance evaluation for city manager Jared Miller next week.

On Tuesday, Councilmembers will meet in executive session to conduct a performance evaluation for Miller. The evaluation will mark almost a year since Miller arrived in Amarillo to become the new city manager, after leaving his job as city manager of San Marcos. Miller succeeded interim city manager Bob Cowell, who succeeded interim city manager Terry Childers. During the executive session, Councilmembers will also discuss Miller's current compensation. No formal action will be taken during the executive session.

Also, on Tuesday, Councilmembers will consider several rezoning ordinances and will discuss possible uses of the Santa Fe Depot in downtown Amarillo. A subcommittee, consisting of Councilmembers, will be appointed to discuss the topic further. The Santa Fe Depot was acquired by the City of Amarillo several years ago and was one of several projects which was denied funding by voters during the November 2016 municipal bond election.

The Council will meet on Tuesday, April 17th at Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). The meeting will begin at 5pm. No work session will be held this week, as Councilmembers will instead be attending a function at the Tri-State Fairgrounds.
