Cruz Takes Aim at Zuckerberg in Heated Senate Hearing

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) took aim at Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg during a heated hearing in front of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.

Cruz grilled Zuckerberg over what he identified as a pattern of "political censorship" by the social media company. According to NBC News, Cruz gave examples for his claim, including alleged censorship by Facebook of the Conservative Political Action Conference, Glenn Beck and a House Republican investigation into the IRS.

"Does Facebook consider itself to be a neutral public forum because your employees have given conflicting answers on this," Cruz said.

Zuckerberg responded that certain information is not allowed on Facebook due to regulations.

"There is certain content that we do not allow like hate speech and terrorist content," Zuckerberg replied.

The Facebook CEO went on to say that he has a personal goal of removing any bias in the way that the company operates its algorythms when dealing with political content.

"This is a actually a concern of mine," Zuckerberg said. "Making sure that we don't have any bias in the work that we do and it is a fair concern that people would wonder about that."
