Amarillo College Considering Paying for Apple Training

Amarillo College is considering adding more technology to the classroom with a possible deal through Apple, Inc.

On Tuesday, members of the Amarillo College Board of Regents will consider approving a deal with Apple, Inc. to provide training by Apple to Amarillo College employees, while also purchasing equipment to facilitate the training. The purchase would require 30 MacBook Pros, 10 iPads, 10 iPod Touches and three training courses for instructors.

Following training, the purchased Apple equipment will be used in classrooms and for testing Apple apps created by students. If approved, the purchase would cost about $55,000.

In addition, the board will consider approving several hirings, while also signing off on land purchases and sales.

The board will meet on Tuesday, March 27th in Room 100 of the Public Service Training Center, East Campus (1401 J Avenue). The meeting begins at 5:45pm.
